Acuvue1-Day Acuvue Moist Daily Contact Lenses
1-Day Acuvue Moist is Johnson & Johnson's best-selling daily disposable lens: a fresh, sterile pair every morning, thrown away every night, with no cleaning, no case and no solution. Its signature Lacreon® technology locks a moisture-rich wetting agent into the lens itself, so comfort is meant to last from the moment you put them in until you take them out. Available in the UAE at lens.me in 30-pack and 90-pack boxes, with fast delivery across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the GCC.
Why choose 1-Day Acuvue Moist?
All-day moisture with Lacreon®. A PVP wetting agent is permanently embedded in the lens material rather than coated on and rinsed away, so the lens holds on to moisture and stays comfortable for the full day.
The convenience of a true daily. Every lens is a brand-new, sterile lens. No build-up of protein or deposits, no solutions, no lens case: ideal for travel, sport, and anyone who wants the simplest possible routine.
Built-in UV blocking. 1-Day Acuvue Moist is a Class 2 UV blocker, filtering approximately 82% of UVA and 97% of UVB radiation reaching the lens, a welcome extra under the Gulf sun. (UV-blocking contact lenses are not a substitute for sunglasses, as they don't cover the whole eye.)
Easy handling. A light visibility tint helps you find the lens in the blister and see it on your finger, and the "1-2-3" inside-out indicator makes sure you insert it the right way round.

This lens suits first-time wearers, occasional or part-time wearers, people who want zero maintenance, and anyone whose eyes feel dry with older daily lenses. If you wear lenses 12 hours or more every day, work long hours in air-conditioned offices, or already know your eyes need maximum oxygen, read the Moist vs Oasys comparison below before you decide.
1-Day Acuvue Moist - FAQs
What is 1-Day Acuvue Moist?
1-Day Acuvue Moist is a daily disposable soft contact lens made by Johnson & Johnson Vision. You wear a fresh pair each day and discard them at night. It's designed for short-sightedness and long-sightedness, and comes in separate versions for astigmatism (toric) and presbyopia (multifocal). The "Moist" name refers to its Lacreon® moisture technology.
Are Acuvue Moist contacts good?
Yes. 1-Day Acuvue Moist has been one of the world's most-prescribed daily lenses for over a decade, thanks to its comfort, easy handling and consistent quality. It's an excellent choice for new wearers and for anyone who values convenience and a soft, cushioned feel. Wearers who need very long wear times or maximum oxygen may prefer a silicone hydrogel lens such as Acuvue Oasys 1-Day.
Are Acuvue Moist good for dry eyes?
1-Day Acuvue Moist is one of the most recommended daily lenses for people who experience dryness with contacts. Its 58% water content and Lacreon® wetting agent are designed to keep the lens hydrated for the whole day, and because it's a fresh lens every day, there's no deposit build-up to irritate sensitive eyes. If your eyes still feel dry after long hours, especially in air conditioning, your optometrist may suggest Acuvue Oasys 1-Day with HydraLuxe or Oasys MAX 1-Day. If you have diagnosed dry eye disease, always ask your eye doctor which lens is right for you.
Is Acuvue Moist a silicone hydrogel lens?
No. 1-Day Acuvue Moist is a conventional hydrogel lens, not a silicone hydrogel. It's made of etafilcon A with 58% water. Silicone hydrogel lenses (such as Acuvue Oasys 1-Day, made of senofilcon A) let more oxygen reach the cornea, but many wearers find hydrogel lenses like Moist feel softer and more comfortable initially. Both are safe for daily wear when used as directed.
What are Acuvue Moist contacts made of?
1-Day Acuvue Moist is made of etafilcon A, a soft hydrogel polymer with 58% water content, with a PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidone) wetting agent permanently embedded in the material. This is what Johnson & Johnson calls Lacreon® technology. The lens also contains a UV-absorbing monomer and a light blue handling tint.
Are Acuvue Moist soft lenses?
Yes. All Acuvue lenses, including 1-Day Acuvue Moist, are soft contact lenses. They are thin, flexible and adapt to the shape of your eye, which is why most people find them comfortable within minutes.
How long can you wear 1-Day Acuvue Moist?
1-Day Acuvue Moist is designed for one day of wear, then disposal. Most wearers comfortably use them for 10–14 hours, although your optometrist will advise the wearing time that's right for your eyes. Once you take them out, throw them away. They should never be stored overnight or reused the next day, even in solution.
Can you sleep in 1-Day Acuvue Moist contacts?
No. 1-Day Acuvue Moist is not approved for overnight or extended wear. Sleeping in them, even for a nap, reduces the oxygen reaching your cornea and significantly increases the risk of eye infection. Always remove and discard your lenses before going to bed. If you need a lens you can occasionally sleep in, ask your optometrist about lenses approved for extended wear.
Can I wear 1-Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal or Astigmatism lenses more than once?
No. All versions of 1-Day Acuvue Moist (spherical, for Astigmatism and Multifocal) are single-use daily disposables. Reusing them, even after cleaning, risks infection and discomfort, and the lens loses its moisture properties once it dries out. Use a new pair every day.
Can 1-Day Acuvue Moist contacts expire?
Yes. Every blister has an expiry date printed on the foil and on the box. An unopened lens is sterile until that date; after it, the saline and lens can degrade, so don't use expired lenses. Acuvue lenses typically have a long shelf life, and at lens.me we ship stock with plenty of time remaining. Once a blister is opened, the lens must be worn that day and discarded.
What is the difference between Acuvue Moist and Acuvue Oasys?
Both are Acuvue daily disposables, but they use different materials and technologies:
| 1-Day Acuvue Moist | Acuvue Oasys 1-Day | |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Etafilcon A (hydrogel) | Senofilcon A (silicone hydrogel) |
| Water content | 58% | 38% |
| Oxygen (Dk/t) | 25.5 | 121 |
| Moisture technology | Lacreon® | HydraLuxe® |
| UV blocking | Class 2 (~82% UVA / 97% UVB) | Class 1 (~96% UVA / 99% UVB) |
| Best for | Value, sensitive eyes, shorter to moderate wear | Long days, screens, air-conditioned or dry environments |
| Price | Lower | Higher |
In short: Moist is the softer, higher-water, more affordable lens; Oasys 1-Day is the more breathable, premium option.
What is the difference between Acuvue Moist and HydraLuxe?
HydraLuxe® isn't a separate lens; it's the moisture technology in Acuvue Oasys 1-Day, just as Lacreon® is the technology in 1-Day Acuvue Moist. Lacreon® embeds a wetting agent into a high-water hydrogel; HydraLuxe® integrates a tear-like wetting agent into a silicone hydrogel that lets nearly five times more oxygen through. So "Moist vs HydraLuxe" is the same comparison as Moist vs Oasys 1-Day above.
Which is better: Acuvue Moist or Oasys?
Neither is "better" for everyone. Choose 1-Day Acuvue Moist if you want a soft, cushioned, budget-friendly daily, wear lenses part-time or for moderate hours, or have found silicone hydrogel lenses feel stiff. Choose Acuvue Oasys 1-Day if you wear lenses 12+ hours a day, spend the day in front of screens or in air conditioning, or your optometrist has recommended maximum oxygen. Many lens.me customers keep Moist for everyday use and Oasys for long travel days.
Are Acuvue Moist being discontinued?
No. 1-Day Acuvue Moist is not discontinued and remains a core product in the Acuvue range. Johnson & Johnson has retired other lenses in recent years (1-Day Acuvue TruEye, Acuvue Oasys with Transitions and Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia), which sometimes causes confusion. 1-Day Acuvue Moist, Moist for Astigmatism and Moist Multifocal are all in production and in stock at lens.me.
How do I put in Acuvue Moist contact lenses?
Wash and dry your hands with a lint-free towel. Peel back the foil and tip the lens onto your fingertip. Check it's the right way round: the edges should curve up like a bowl, and the "1-2-3" marking on the lens should read correctly, not backwards. Hold your upper lid with one hand and pull the lower lid down with the other, look straight ahead or slightly up, and gently place the lens on your eye. Blink slowly a few times to settle it. Start with the same eye every time so you don't mix up your prescriptions.
How do I put in 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism?
The steps are the same as above. Toric lenses for astigmatism have a built-in stabilising design, so you don't need to position them at a specific angle: place the lens on your eye, blink a few times, and it will rotate into the correct orientation on its own within a few seconds. If vision stays blurry after a minute, remove the lens, check it isn't inside out, and reinsert.
