Peripheral vision is very important for humans as it is for animals
Animals have a either very narrow peripheral vision or a very wide one depending on their habitat and if they have to be aware of dangers moving towards them.
Our humans real field of vision is approximately the size of our fist if we stretch out our arm infront of us. Everything around this area is our peripheral vision. We don't focus on it but we would detect moving objects.
