Eye doctors hope that stem cell therapy could help the blind to see again

Eye surgeon, Dr Sayan Basu from Hyderabad found a small reservoir of stemcells just behind the cornea which - if used properly - could help to regenerate injured or degenerated corneas which are the leading cause of blindness.

After a test with mice, 10 blind people are starting their treatment with their own stem cells. While the healing process and possible regeneration of cornea cells might only take 1-2 months, the first results of this trial will be available in 2015.
