Iris / retina recognition is increasingly popular to identify persons

Iris recognition is a method of identifying people based on unique patterns within the ring-shaped region surrounding the pupil of the eye. The iris usually has a blue, brown, greenish or gray color, with complex patterns that are visible upon close inspection.

These patterns are unique from person to person similar to a fingerprint. However they are much more complex than a fingerprint and therefore more reliable as a biometrical identification feature.

Modern governmental institutions like the border police of countries such as United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia or Qatar can use these technologies to ensure proper identification of individuals.
